There is no doubt that it is beneficial in accident cases to hire an experienced attorney who is familiar with the area where the accident occurred.  Such attorneys are likely to know who to call to conduct an investigation and the best places to go for treatment for a particular injury. And if a court case becomes necessary, it is advantageous to have an attorney who is experienced in the local courts (a court case is almost always filed in the county where the accident occurred).

At Robertson & Robertson, we are accident attorneys who know Somerset County.  Both Scott and Laura Robertson trace the beginnings of their legal careers to Somerset.  Scott Robertson was a judicial intern to Judge Daniel M. Long of the Circuit Court for Somerset County during the summer of 1992, after his second year of law school.  Scott’s wife and law partner, Laura Robertson, worked full time as Judge Long’s law clerk when she graduated from law school.  In these positions, we helped the judge with legal research, the drafting of judicial orders, reviewed the pre-trial submissions of attorneys, and helped the judge prepare for trials.  This was an invaluable experience to see what some attorneys did well, and more importantly to learn how particular mistakes by attorneys can cause bad results.

Scott Robertson spent the first eight years of his legal career defending negligent drivers on behalf of the insurance companies that insured them.  While he represented several insurance companies over the years, most of his work was for Allstate Insurance Company.  In fact, he was personally involved in the majority of lawsuits filed on the Eastern Shore against individuals insured by Allstate.  Many of the car accident cases Scott defended were in Somerset County.

Since switching his practice several years ago from defending the insurance companies and the at-fault drivers to representing the injured victims of car and truck accidents, Scott Robertson has had the privilege to represent many Somerset County residents for their car and truck accident claims.  By meticulously preparing each client’s claim, we can usually achieve a good personal injury settlement without the necessity of filing a lawsuit.

In those minority of situations when a court case is necessary, we have the experience and know our way around the Somerset County Courts.  We have represented many individuals in both the Circuit and District Court, from everyday folks to the CEO of Somerset County’s largest non-governmental employer.

Scott and Laura Robertson have many personal friends in Somerset County.  Laura’s father, Dan Massey, lives in Chance and is married to the former Shirley Willing.  The Robertsons very much enjoy representing Somerset County clients.

Occasionally we receive phone calls from individuals who are unhappy because they hired an attorney on the western shore to handle their personal injury case.  Oftentimes they tell us they have not met their attorney, rarely talked to him or her, and are having difficulty getting information regarding their case.

We pride ourselves on accessibility and service to our clients. Our attorneys and staff promptly return phone calls and address client questions.  Our office is convenient and we encourage our clients to stop in anytime (although we often close the office for lunch between noon and 1:00).  You can’t just stop in your lawyers’ office if it is hours away.  You will love our communication and the convenience of our local office.

Our firm does NOT handle criminal law, real estate, divorce and child custody, business law, or anything other than personal injury law.  We know the ins and outs of personal injury law, car and truck accidents, and insurance claims.  We stand ready to assist you.
